Morning Arrival and Circle Time
The day begins at 8:15 am with students eagerly arriving at Bumi Kecil, excited to greet their friends and teachers. During this time, families are invited to join in exploration of the classroom or outdoor areas to help their child transition to the day. At 8:30 am or after all the students arrive, it’s time for Morning Circle, where students gather to share stories, discuss the day’s activities, and sing songs in both English and Indonesian, fostering a sense of community and bilingual skills.
Exploration
Following Morning Circle, students dive into guided and self-directed learning activities. In line with our Reggio-Emilia inspired philosophy, the curriculum is emergent and tailored to the students’ interests. Whether it’s exploring literacy and numeracy through hands-on activities, engaging in science experiments, or expressing creativity through arts and crafts, the environment encourages curiosity and discovery.
Snack Time
Healthy vegetarian snacks are provided each day, giving students the energy they need to continue their day. Students generally start to feel hungry around 10 when the snack arrives, however, they can decide when they are ready for a nourishing break. Before snack, we remind all students to wash their hands and after snack, they are asked to wash their plates before moving on to their next activity.
Outdoor Play
Mid-morning, the students head outside for playtime and exploration of our exciting playground. They love engaging in imaginative play on the Bumi Kecil boat, digging in the sandbox, swinging on the swings, playing running games and exploring natural wonders they find. During this shared outdoor time, they are welcome to play with the students from both classes, deepening friendships across multiple age groups.
Late Morning Activities and Projects
The last part of our day is filled with more structured learning and project-based activities. Students explore themes like Our Solar System, Garden Explorers, and Animal Rescuers through more open-ended projects. These activities not only enhance learning skills but also foster social-emotional development and critical thinking.
Closing Circle and Dismissal
The school day ends at 12:30 pm with a Closing Circle, where students reflect on what they’ve learned and share their experiences. They pack up their belongings developing a sense of responsibility and then sing a goodbye song before lining up to greet their families. We hope they leave every day with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for the next day’s adventures.
